About
Welcome to GNOArch.com, a website devoted to sharing information about the archaeology of New Orleans. This website is being developed by the University of New Orleans Department of Anthropology and Sociology and the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies. It includes a variety of digital exhibits about the city's past, with content for both the general public and for specialists.
This website is just one of the public-facing outlets for our archaeological research. You can follow our Instagram page here:
We also have a New Orleans archaeology "tour" on the New Orleans Historical app/platform:
Tour | The City Beneath the City: Archaeology of New Orleans | New Orleans Historical
At least some of the content from that tour will be migrating to this site in the future.
We have also been developing a CatalogIt site to share our collections:
UNO Archaeological Research and Curation - CatalogIt HUB
It's an exciting time for us at UNO, as we prepare to move into a new space at the Earl K. Long Library and upgrade our archaeology facilities. Look for more news coming soon! If you have any inquiries about local archaeology, you can email D. Ryan Gray at drgray1@uno.edu
