We count on the public to help us learn more about the City’s past, and we are happy to try to assist with any New Orleans archaeology-related questions you might have. If you have found an unusual artifact, you may submit photographs or other information here. In addition, if you think that an archaeological site may be located on property that you own, or that a sensitive site is being impacted by construction, please let us know. Remember that the preferred option is for archaeological materials to be left in place unless they are in danger of destruction. Artifacts and other archaeological materials found on state and federal lands are legally protected; in all cases, it is illegal to dig on someone else’s property to remove artifacts without permission. To submit, you will need to sign up to UNO Archaeological Research and Curation’s digital community archive using the link below. You may then submit photographs, maps, or other documentation, which will be archived on this website. We will be in contact to follow up within a week of your submission.
