Burial 11

One of the most remarked upon burials from the 1984 excavations was that of a man between 40 and 50 years of age at time of death.  While this was fairly old for the skeletal population in general, he was also distinguished by other attributes.  He had lower incisors modified to give a notched appearance.  In Central African contexts, dental modifications may indicate ethnic or social affiliation, and sometimes they may pertain to membership in initiatory societies.
